64 UCAS points (from related Early Years and/or Health and Care subjects).

You may be invited to a discretionary interview.

If you are a current Newcastle College student and successfully meet the published Level 3 entry criteria in Children and Young People, you will be guaranteed an interview for this course.  

Applicants are normally expected to have achieved grade 4 or higher in GCSE English and maths or the Level 2 equivalent (ie. Functional Skills or Adult Literacy/Numeracy).

You will be expected to have DBS clearance before starting this degree.

At Newcastle College University Centre, we welcome applications from students studying new T-Level qualifications.

Upon successful completion of this degree, you will receive a Foundation Degree (FdA) in Children and Young People (awarded by NCG).

There is an increased demand for qualified early years practitioners within the sector due to the government initiative offering up to 30 hours of free childcare for children from three years old. Through studying this Foundation Degree, you will gain enhanced knowledge of child development patterns, care routines and observation and assessment practices which you can apply in a real-work environment through your work placement.

Once you successfully complete your degree, you can progress onto the BA (Hons) Children and Young People (Top-Up) at Newcastle College University Centre to further develop your knowledge. You may wish to seek employment as a teaching assistant in a school, or work in a nursery as an early years practitioner.
