HE Enrolment 2026

Every summer we invite our successful applicants onto campus to complete their enrolment. This includes signing your learning agreement and collecting your student lanyard - meaning that you're on your way to becoming a Newcastle College University Centre student!

ENROLMENT OPENING TIMES

Enrolment will take place in The Turnbull Suite on our Rye Hill campus in Newcastle from Thursday 13 August until Friday 25 September. Please see timings below:

Mondays: 8.30am – 6.00pm

Tuesdays: 8.30am – 5.00pm

Wednesdays: 8.30am – 6.00pm

Thursdays: 8.30am – 5.30pm

Fridays: 8.30am – 4.00pm

Saturday 15 August: 10am – 2.30pm

Higher Education Enrolment will be held in The Turnbull Suite on the main Rye Hill campus. The Turnbull suite is situated at the bottom of campus next to the main car park off Scotswood Road.

We want you to be as prepared as possible when you come to enrol. Take a look at our handy checklist to find out how to enrol at Newcastle College University Centre this summer.

OFFICIAL I.D. (Photographs of identification will not be accepted)

You must provide a form of official personal identification to enrol. This could be a:

Passport (in date)

UK or EAA Driving Licence

Original Birth Certificate.

If you are not classed as a British or Irish citizen, you will need to provide your Right to Study evidence which includes: your passport, your share code, your visa and your letter from the Home Office.

If you are British/Irish citizen, you must provide evidence of this in the form of a passport (nationality listed as British/Irish Citizen) or birth/adoption certificate AND National Insurance number (payslip, National Insurance card or NationalInsurance letter confirming National Insurance number and name).

If you are unable to provide your Right to Study evidence, we will be unable to enrol you.

FINANCE EVIDENCE / PAYMENT

We can accept the following kinds of payment or financial evidence:

Loan Confirmation from the Student Loans Company (or your SSN/Customer Reference Number if your application is being processed).

                                                                           OR

Completed Employer Payment Form (if your employer is paying for your tuition fees).

                                                                           OR

For students paying their own fees - we can arrange a direct debit plan with you at enrolment. Please remember to bring your bank details with you.

EVIDENCE OF HIGHEST QUALIFICATION

Please bring with you some proof of your highest qualification. This could be a certificate or transcript/statement of results.

We will be taking your photo for your Newcastle College University Centre ID card (if you are a new student, or if you are a returning student and would like an updated photograph). You will need to wear this lanyard whenever you are on campus.

Yes, you can wait and one of our staff will be able to enrol you. However, your wait time will depend on how many bookings have been made on that day.

If you haven't applied yet we advise you to do this as soon as possible.

Once you have applied online, we will review your application and be in touch with your next steps. 

You can submit your application before receiving your BTEC or A-Level results.

If you are waiting for exam results you will be able to complete your enrolment once you have received them. We will contact to you to invite you in for enrolment on a date after you have received your results.

If you change your mind after you have applied and would like to discuss your options, please get in touch with our Student Services team who will be able to provide course advice to ensure you find a suitable course. 

Once your place is confirmed by our HE Admissions Manager, you will receive a link via email to book an enrolment appointment. After your successful enrolment at your appointment, you will sign your learning agreement and collect your student ID card. 

There are limited parking spaces in our main car park off Scotswood Road, alternatively you can pay to park at various sites around the campus.

In order to apply for a parking permit, you will need to scan a QR code which will be available when you attend your enrolment appointment.

Parking permits will then be available to collect from the start of term.

This permit can be used in every car park on Rye Hill campus. Please be aware that this does not guarantee a parking space, because all parking spaces are allocated on a first come, first served basis.

If you require a parking permit at a later date, please go to the nearest reception desk.

Newcastle College University Centre does not offer any student accommodation, but we can suggest some great student friendly options! Whether you would like to live in halls of residence, private rented accommodation or even with a local family, speak to our Student Services team who can help you to find the perfect place. If you need childcare for children aged 0-5 years, Newcastle College Day Nursery is conveniently located at our Rye Hill campus. It was recently rated Outstanding by Ofsted and provides a welcoming and supportive environment for children. You will receive your induction date during the enrolment process. You will receive your timetable when you attend induction.

Yes, we have an award-winning student support team who offer one-to-one support to help you reach your full potential and achieve your goals. You will meet regularly with a Personal Tutor who will help you to plan your learning journey and keep track of your progress. Our Learning Support Team can offer additional and specific support if you have any additional needs and/or disability. This includes support for sensory needs, learning and physical disabilities, autism and dyslexia. They can also help if you need advice and support for any issues relating to your mental health and wellbeing.

Your first few weeks will be spent completing your induction, meeting your tutor and classmates. You'll also find out all of the important information you need to know, including all of the support that you can access and what to expect from your time at the University Centre.

Certificates are sent out within 12 weeks of the Exam Board. Exam Boards convene in July, September and January.

Please speak with your Module Leader if you require a five-day extension to a submission deadline.

Please speak to your Programme Leader about the process to apply for Mitigation.

Yes, you can still enrol. However, you must be aware that as part of enrolment, fees will be payable by you in the event of Student Loan Company default for any reason (e.g. loan reassessment, cancellation of loan). It is always a good idea to apply for your loan as soon as applications open.

Once your student loan has been approved, Student Finance England will pay your tuition fee directly to Newcastle College University Centre. If you are studying a Level 7 programme (Masters degree or equivalent), you will receive a tuition payment from Student Finance England which you must pay directly to Newcastle College University Centre.

If you have applied for a Maintenance Loan, payment will be received in line with the date set out in your payment schedule from Student Finance England. If you enrol after this date, it will be paid within 3-5 working days. Please note you must have signed your Learning Agreement in order for your Maintenance Loan to be paid.

At the point of enrolment, you will receive a fee payment factsheet containing all payment details.

Payment can be made in full using online banking.

If you wish to pay in instalments, you can do this via 7 monthly instalments starting 1^st October. You will be required to complete a direct debit mandate upon enrolling. Please remember to bring you bank details with you (account code & sort code). This method takes all the stress away from you having to remember to pay each month!

If you are on a Level 7 programme, please note your payment schedule is slightly different. You will be required to pay in 3 instalments, these dates are in line with your loan payments.

You must complete an Employer Fee Payment form with your employer. Once a completed form is submitted, we will invoice your employer for your tuition fee. If you would like to be super organised and complete the form before you attend your enrolment appointment, please get in touch (HEAdmin@ncl-coll.ac.uk) and we will email it to you.

Once you are enrolled, we will provide you with a council tax exemption form at your enrolment appointment.

If you require a tax exemption form after enrolment, you can email HEAdmin@ncl-coll.ac.uk with confirmation of your name, your student number and your current address. You can either collect the form from our reception desk, have it posted to your current address, or we can send it to you via email.

Once you have attended your course, you can email HEAdmin@ncl-coll.ac.uk with confirmation of your name, student number and date of birth. You can either collect it from Rye Hill House reception, we can post it to your current address or we can send it to you via email.

Once you are enrolled, you can request a banking letter at your enrolment appointment.

If you require a letter after enrolment, you can email HEAdmin@ncl-coll.ac.uk with confirmation of your name, student number, date of birth and current address. You can either collect the letter from Rye Hill House reception, have it posted to your current address or we can send it to you via email.

For help with your student loan application, please email Advisors@ncl-coll.ac.uk. Alternatively, there will PC’s available for you to apply for your student finance when you attend campus to enrol and staff on hand to assist.

Once you have completed your enrolment and have signed your learning agreement, we will confirm your registration with the Student Loan Company.

If this is done before the start of term, any maintenance payments owed will either be paid within three days of the start of term, or in line with the payment schedule that you receive from the Student Loan Company.

If you do not return a signed learning agreement until after the start of term, your maintenance payment will be paid three days after receipt of the learning agreement.

This page explains what Right to Study means, who it applies to, and what you may need to do before your enrolment appointment. We know immigration documents can sometimes feel confusing, so we have written this guide to make the process as clear and straightforward as possible.

Before you can enrol at Newcastle College University Centre, we need to check your Right to Study in the UK. This means confirming that you have the correct immigration permission, status or documents to study here.

For many adult applicants, this is a normal part of the enrolment process. Completing it early can help avoid delays and make it easier for you to start your course on time.

Some colleges are legally required by UK Visas and Immigration (UKVI) to check that students have permission to study in the UK before enrolment can be completed.

This is important because it helps us to:

• check your eligibility to enrol.

• check your course is funded correctly. 

• Provide you with the right support, advice and guidance. 

We need to check the nationality and status of all applicants to confirm whether a right to study check is required.

Anyone who provides evidence that they are a British or Irish national will not be subject to any further right to study checks.

Right to Study checks may apply to:

• EU/EEA nationals 

• Individuals with settled or pre-settled status 

• Non-UK nationals studying on a visa 

Your Right to Study check must be completed during enrolment.

To make your enrolment quicker and easier, we strongly recommend getting your documents ready in advance.

The documents you need will depend on your nationality and immigration status. The sections below give a general guide, but if you are unsure, please contact us before you attend.

UK and Irish citizens 

·       Valid ID showing your address and date of birth. This should ideally be:

- Your birth certificate AND your National Insurance number 

OR

- Passport

If you do not have the evidence above, we can accept a full or provisional driving licence.

EU/EEA/Swiss citizens 

• Proof of Settled or Pre-settled Status (share code), or 

• EU passport/ID and immigration status 

Non-UK nationals 

• An eVisa share code to allow us to check your status online.

If you cannot provide an eVisa share code: 

You must bring your original immigration documents instead. They must still be valid) in date).

You can bring one of these:

o   a valid visa vignette in your passport

o   a Biometric Residence Permit

o   a passport stamp

o   a Bail 201 letter with an Application Registration Card

If your status depends on a family member: 

If your visa is linked to a family member, such as a dependant, family or child visa, you must also bring that family member’s immigration documents.

Your exact documents will depend on your immigration status, but we must check official evidence as part of our legal responsibilities.

A share code is a secure code you generate online, so we can check your immigration status. It is usually quick to get and can save time at your enrolment.

We will check your documents and confirm your status. You will usually need to:

• share your code (if you have one) 

• show your immigration documents 

• complete the rest of your enrolment once approved  

If you do not provide valid evidence of your Right to Study, we may not be able to complete your enrolment.

• You may not be able to enrol, or 

• Your place on the course could be at risk 

Where it is a legal requirement, these checks must be completed before you can start your course.

• You cannot fully enrol until your Right to Study is confirmed.
• Providing incorrect or incomplete information may delay your start.
• Some visa types may have restrictions on what you can study.
• Enrolment will depend on course availability and whether you meet the entry requirements.
